Specialising in high-risk adolescents and adults, I offer contemporary psychoanalysis and EMDR resulting in powerful therapeutic benefits. Integrating several types of therapy (CBT, solution focused, problem solving), psychoanalysis informs my work in terms of the way I conceptualise the client’s current problems and EMDR (as needed) results in a faster way of processing trauma. Combining these two therapies provides effective in-depth therapy with relatively brief therapy. If you have been suffering with unresolved psychological trauma, I can help you to overcome the problems that are keeping you from maximising your potential.

Psychotherapy is a specialisation for working in-depth with people who are grappling with a range of personal and well-being issues including diagnosed mental health conditions.  I assist clients to understand how past experiences influence and shape their current responses to life events. The focus is on the here and now response, the past simply provides the platform for understanding.

During the first session we’ll explore what brings you into therapy, a brief discussion of your history and background.  Most likely, you’ll find yourself talking about your current symptoms or struggles, as well saying a bit about your relationships, your interests, your strengths, and your goals.  A treatment plan and treatment goals will be devised together.

I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy) – a form of psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences, it aims to reduce symptoms of trauma by changing how memories are stored in your brain (Advanced Training, EMDRAA)

The most important speciality – the ability to offer a warm, friendly and understanding space where you will be listened to, to recognise and hold your emotions and provide a safe place for your vulnerabilities.

My qualifications include: (all from Monash University with the exception of the Accredited Mental Health Social Worker which was obtained through the Australian Association of Social Workers)
